Idaho Teen Driving

Toward Zero Deaths

BOISE – School playgrounds, halls and buses — dormant the past three months — will return to life in the coming days and weeks as children return to school classes.

That means more children walking and riding bicycles to school, boarding school buses and riding in private vehicles. The Idaho Transportation Department wants to ensure those trips to and from school are as safe and incident-free as possible.

Traffic around schools increases exponentially when classes resume, and that brings the potential for conflict between vehicles and young children. Motorists and children need to be especially vigilant and remain focused on safe travel.

ITD joins law enforcement agencies, school administrators and teachers, parents and parent organizations across Idaho to urge caution during these renewed school commutes.

Questions? Visit us online at itd.idaho.gov, follow ITD on Twitter (@IdahoITD) or Facebook and check travel conditions at 511.idaho.govor dial 5-1-1. Please slow down in highway construction zones and pay attention. Safety for drivers and workers is our highest priority.
